Love in the Moonlight
A recent newspaper article said that, during the pandemic, the dating scene changed. I visualize love in the moonlight by thinking of photos or paintings I have seen. Two people sitting on a hilltop under a full moon or two people kissing while the full moon beams down on them makes me smile. Imagining someone sitting under a full moon with a computer while his or her sweetheart gazes at the full moon at another location doesn’t seem satisfying to me. It doesn’t seem to inspire poetry. However, that may be the best way to communicate by e-mail or whatever.
Keeping in mind my earlier image of a couple in the moonlight, I wrote a short poem some years ago. The moon is full, my heart is too. It’s brimming over with love for you.
I also copyrighted a brief poem in contrast to the popular view of love and the moonlight.
“The moon is full tonight,” said her father, softly crooning.
“I prefer,” her lover said, “the dark of the moon for spooning.”
